Dhorpatan, located in Western
Nepal, is the only wildlife reserve legalized
for hunting. It covers an area of 1,325 sq. km.
This reserve was established in 1987. The
vegetation of this region includes alpine,
sub-alpine and high temperature vegetation. Plant
species found here are fir, pine and spruce.
Wildlife includes the blue sheep, a prized
trophy for hunters. Other wildlife includes snow
leopard, tahr, and langur primates. Birds
include pheasants and partridges. |
