This Getaway Special branches
off the popular trekking routes and heads into
beautiful unspoiled wilderness surrounded by
stunning mountain scenery. This trail is a
naturalist's paradise, back-dropped by
incredible mountain scenery. Wildlife of this
area include the Himalayan Tahr (a large
goat-like creature), the Pikka (a mammal similar
to a guinea pig), and the national bird of Nepal
- the multi-colored Impeyan Pheasant. For the
bird-watcher this trek presents a variety of
species with maximum numbers available during
the spring (March-May). Two Himalayan giants,
Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,788m) and Annapurna I
(8,091m/26,538ft) dominate the skyline. The Kali
Gandaki River cuts between these two mighty
peaks, forming the deepest gorge on the earth's
surface, some 7,000m /23,000ft deep! Our
camp-sites, high on the ridges beneath Annapurna
South (7,237m/23,737ft) offer some of the finest
panoramic views available in the Annapurna
region.
Moderate to difficult trekking, and camping,
from 1,000m (3,000ft) to 3,870m (12,700ft) and
optional hiking to 4,500m (15,000ft). Fully
supported trek with all meals and equipment led
by experienced local guide. All equipment and
luggage will be carried by porters. Clients
carry day pack only and walk at an easy pace. |
